If ever a Bride’s personality was reflected in her flowers then this  Her for sure!! Laurie’s a great girl.. full of hugs,  laughter, and love.. everything about her says “happy”.. no pushover- don’t get me wrong..she’s a lecturer with a science degree  and a firm idea of what she likes and doesn’t like.. she confidently chose  the tantalizing colours of sherbert  with the meringue  style textures of roses and ranunculus to carry on her Big Day and we delivered amidst  the biggest of smiles and squeals of delight!!

Laurie & Barry wed in the  sunshine (!!!) at The Honan Chapel late  Spring 2012… and that was  merely an affirmation of  what was already a very strong and funfilled relationship..

Vintage Wedding Style

Greetings one and all from a very rainy Cork!!!
But who cares??
It’s been a fantastic week for Wild Floral Couture :o) at last our love of all things Vintage has found its niche … Last weekend we took part in The Spectacular Vintage Wedding Fair at the Imperial Hotel in Cork and Boy! – did we have to do some talking!! We met a horde of fabulous people , some getting married, and some not, but plenty who loved our vintage themed floral designs and accessories.. there was much ‘ooh-ing’ and ‘aaah-ing’ about everything, from our Steampunk props to the ‘fleet’ of vintage cars, our birdcage designs to our beautifully scented ‘tussie mussies’ of hyacinth and lavender.. We were ‘on fire'( those of you who know me will get the irony of that!!)
So firstly let me say ‘Thank You’ to everyone who came to visit us at our stand.. and to Kate from Bella Bleu Bridal who organised the event.. We loved it!!! looks like a big demand for the wildflower look this year- which of course is very vintage.. lots of you loving the scented flowers , the lilac ‘Armando’ Roses, the Tiffany Tree dripping with diamonds and pearls… and our quirky table names- and we had such fun meeting you all !! So with this in mind.. I’ve uploaded a whole load of photos of bouquets and decor we’ve designed and created over the last year or so in various venues around Ireland so you can get an idea of the wealth of creativity on the team…. We’re SO excited about 2013/2014 -it’s already Rockin’ and its still only January!
We’ll also be attending the Wedding Fair at Fota Island Hotel on Feb 24th , so come and have a chat and a look at more ideas, both at our stand and in the Golf club – perfect for smaller weddings/civil ceremonies.. we look forward to meeting you all- again or for the first time!!

A vintage themed flower workshop led by Flowersmith, Tutor & Demonstrator, Jill O Keeffe NDSF..A day of fun with flowers, where participants create their own wonderous Winter décor for around the home, all to a classically stylish theme.. We’ll have luscious flowers, fulsome foliages, birdcages, candles, crystals and pearls, velvet and lace, and all the scents and signs of a very cosy Christmas..
Share in Wild Floral Couture’s unique outlook on floral design, and go home with arms and hearts full of good cheer!
Date : Saturday Dec 8th 2012 time 11-5
Price;€150 deposit of €75 payable to confirm by Dec 3rd.
Itinerary:
10.30 arrive and have a warming cup of tea and coffee and get acquainted with your fellow florists…
11 am: Door Wreath: a frosty themed wreath of winter foliages with pearls, lace and a touch of crystal accented with the luxurious textures of satin or velvet….
Birdcage arrangement: cutesy arrangement for the hall or table centre. Birds included!
1pm Traditional afternoon tea style lunch, with warming pots of tea /coffee with and the necessary chatter round the table while we tuck into our sandwiches and mince pies!
1.45 Mantle decor: an opulent mantle garland with dried fruits, velvety ribbon, delectable décor.. and a touch of twinkle…
3.15 Table centre with candles: A Tiffanys inspired table décor; candles and crystal and a Lot of Style…
4.30 Learn tricks of the trade and tips for making your own decorations for the Christmas table and décor for the tree.. We’re all about the pearls and the lace, and the most beautiful of seasonal flowers, berries, and foliages, the gold and the silver and the most elegant of classic vintage style.
5pm- Leave the mess behind and take your goodies home with a smile…

What to bring:
Strong scissors suitable for cutting branches and flower stems: paper/ribbon scissors.:A warm jumper and thick socks as the workshop can be chilly.

Steampunk Bridal Shoot -Bantry House

At Last!! The long awaited pictures from the Steampunk Bridal Shoot at Bantry House … Una and Jill gathered every bit of remotely Steampunk  Style  props with some divine antiquified flowers, squashed it all in the super Skoda and hit the High road to Bantry! And what a day we had…the sun actually shone for most of the day and in between shooting the view of bantry bay was inspirational.. not just that… our surroundings within the beautiful  Bantry house lent themselves fantastically to the theme of the shoot..Afternoon Tea at Bantry House

We’d been exploring the Aesthetic style that is known as Steampunk in the studio in the weeks preceding the shoot and when we got the call from Kait Husman of http://www.chemistryphotography.com/ we were hopping around like 2 clockwork bunnies.. What is Steampunk ???…The term originated in the late 1900s as an imaginative combination of Victorian style  & science with modern day technological knowledge.. think HG Wells or Jules Verne, or even more recently Sherlock Holmes or The City of Lost Children.. Its got a little bit of sci fi, a hint of fantasy and a lot of creativity.. its a little dark, with a lot of lace, gears and Steam! You’ll love it!

Class times: every Tuesday 10am til 1pm for 4 weeks

Commences: May 15th until June 5th

Price: 60 E per class-  if 5 or more students per class- then 50E per class!

This Summer school is aimed at Queens of the Hearth…a genteel experience for those wishing to cultivate their confidence with flower arranging in the home…imaginative ideas mixed with classic concepts make for a creative and fulfilling atmosphere using a mix of floral, textile and craft techniques, with a dash of  “Downton Abbey” thrown in…

Week 1; Something simple for the boudoir & Classic floral design for the ‘sideboard’…

Week 2; Drama for the Hall- one low …one high…

Week 3; Contemporary designs for contemporary spaces…

Week 4; Romantic flowers with candles and a floral surprise for the Lady of The House…
